npm update updates all the packages listed to the latest specified version.

If it is an exact version, npm update will not update anything.

If it is a tilde version, npm update will update to the latest patch version.

If it is a caret version, npm update will update to the latest minor version.

If you want to update anything to the latest major version, run ncu -u.
